Healthy path · Step 2 of 4 Tool

Healthy path · Step 2 of 4 (night one)

Pick one tool for this session

What is a “tool”?

On this site, a tool is simply the program or website you open to do vibe coding — the place where you type instructions and get a page, app, or code back. Examples people use: Lovable, Bolt, Cursor, Grok Build, and others. Not a hammer in the shed — a product you sign into (or install) so the AI can help you build.

What “ready” looks like optional · when Step 2 is done

You are not done when you “know the brand.” You are done when you can type a prompt.

Browser tools (e.g. Lovable) — easiest

  • Signed in (free is fine)
  • New empty project open
  • A box where you can type or paste instructions
  • Best first choice for most beginners on this guide

Folder tools (e.g. Cursor, Grok Build)

  • Throwaway practice folder (sandbox)
  • Tool pointed at that folder
  • Chat / prompt ready — not your live site
  • Fine if you already open code folders — not required on night one

If the tools page looks like alphabet soup — that is normal. You do not need to learn every product. You need one tool for this session, then move to your first session (Step 3).

Beginners often open an AI tool, type “build me an app,” burn credits (money), get confused, and quit.

Picking one tool is how you avoid that. The wrong move is staring at ten logos until you give up.

Answer a few easy questions

Step 1 of 3

Have you built a website or written code before?

Honest answer. “No” is a great answer.

The hard bit (human, not tech)

Two windows — don’t lose this guide

Leaving this guide to sign up on a tool’s own website is where many beginners get lost. That is normal. The fix is not “read more logos” — it is two windows (or a printout).

  1. Keep this site open — pin the tab, or open Step 3 in another tab, or print the session checklist.
  2. On the tool site (new tab): free signup if needed → new empty project only. Ignore their marketing and every other product they sell. You only need a place to type a prompt.
  3. Official “Visit” links from our tool guides open in a new tab so you do not lose this guide.
  4. When the tool is ready for a prompt, Step 2 is done — go to Step 3 · First session for the actual build (goal, prompt, score). You do not need to master the tool’s whole website tonight.

If you only remember three tools

If you already use Grok

Grok Build

AI that helps work on a real project with you (plan, edit, fix). Great for learning with review. Don’t open it in a folder you care about until you understand sandboxes.

If you already open code folders

Cursor

An AI-powered code editor (like a smart Word, but for project files). Faster only if you read what it changes.

Everyone else (Replit, Claude Code, v0…) can wait. Full list: Tools hub.

Still frozen?

Do this exact sequence — no thinking required:

  1. Pick Lovable or Grok Build (either is fine for night one)
  2. Read Two windows above, then open the tool in a new tab (empty project only). Most beginners: Open Lovable
  3. Go to Step 3 · First session for the prompt and the hour plan

Need a paper checklist?

Optional desk handout — not required.
